Introduction

BOOK VII

Player Boundaries & Sensitive Content

Every Great Story Begins With Trust

Ash & Blood embraces mature storytelling. Political imprisonment, torture, slavery, permanent injuries, branding, psychological conflict and even Character Death can produce some of the most memorable stories within the Exiled Lands. Their purpose, however, is never to make another player uncomfortable. Every scene exists because every participant willingly chooses to tell that story together.

This book establishes the complete framework governing player consent, personal boundaries, sensitive roleplay, permanent consequences, Consent Sheets, out-of-character communication and administrative review. These rules preserve immersion while ensuring every player remains respected, informed and in control of their own experience.

"Roleplay should challenge your character, never the player behind them."

Chapter I — Consent Philosophy

CHAPTER I

Consent Philosophy

Trust Is The Foundation Of Every Great Story

Ash & Blood is built upon collaborative storytelling. Conflict, tragedy, imprisonment and other mature themes often create the most memorable roleplay experiences on the server, but every scene ultimately exists because every participant willingly chooses to take part in it. Consent ensures these stories remain immersive, respectful and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Every player has different personal boundaries regarding the stories they wish to explore. Some may welcome political imprisonment, psychological manipulation or brutal violence, while others may prefer to avoid permanent injuries, graphic descriptions or other sensitive subjects entirely. These preferences are equally valid and must always be respected without argument, judgment or criticism.

Consent does not weaken roleplay. It allows players to confidently participate in darker narratives because everyone involved understands both the possible consequences and the limits established before the scene begins. Clear expectations produce stronger stories than assumptions ever will. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

"Roleplay should challenge your character, never the player behind them."
🤝 CONSENT FIRST, STORY ALWAYS

Communication outside the game allows players to safely explore emotionally difficult subjects while preventing misunderstandings, unnecessary discomfort and avoidable disputes. Respecting another player's boundaries is never an obstacle to storytelling. It is what makes collaborative storytelling possible.

The strongest stories are created when every participant trusts that their personal limits will always be respected.

✔ Good Practice

  • Respect every player's personal boundaries.
  • Review consent before sensitive roleplay.
  • Communicate whenever uncertainty exists.
  • Accept that different players have different limits.
  • Prioritize mutual enjoyment over personal preferences.

✖ Unacceptable Conduct

  • Ignoring clearly established consent boundaries.
  • Pressuring another player into uncomfortable roleplay.
  • Arguing about another player's consent choices.
  • Assuming silence automatically means agreement.
  • Continuing after consent has been withdrawn.
Communication Matters

Many of the server's strongest stories begin with a brief out-of-character conversation. Clarifying expectations before entering emotionally intense roleplay allows everyone to participate confidently while avoiding interruptions later.

If uncertainty exists regarding another player's comfort level, ask first. A short conversation before the scene is always preferable to resolving a misunderstanding after the scene has already concluded.

® Players are encouraged to confirm expectations whenever a scene significantly changes in tone or escalates beyond what was originally discussed, even if consent had already been established earlier in the interaction.

⚠ IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES
  • Consent must always be informed and voluntary.
  • Silence should never be interpreted as agreement.
  • Players may establish personal boundaries at any time.
  • Respecting consent strengthens collaborative storytelling.
  • Player wellbeing always takes priority over completing a scene.
📖 EXAMPLE

A group intends to interrogate an enemy prisoner using intense psychological pressure. Before escalating the roleplay, they briefly review the prisoner's Consent Sheet and confirm that everyone involved remains comfortable with the planned direction of the scene.

Because expectations were established beforehand, the interrogation proceeds without unnecessary interruptions while remaining immersive, respectful and enjoyable for every participant.

The players spend less than a minute communicating, but that conversation protects the integrity of the entire roleplay.

Remember
  • Respect every player's boundaries without debate.
  • Consent allows darker stories to be explored responsibly.
  • Communication prevents misunderstandings before they occur.
  • Never pressure another player into unwanted roleplay.
  • Trust, honesty and cooperation create the strongest stories.

Chapter II — Consent Sheets

CHAPTER II

Consent Sheets

Clear Expectations Create Better Stories

Every player is responsible for maintaining an accurate and up-to-date Consent Sheet. Before initiating roleplay involving mature themes, permanent consequences or other sensitive subject matter, you are expected to review the other participant's Consent Sheet and ensure the intended scene falls within their established boundaries.

A Consent Sheet serves as the official reference for what a player is willing, unwilling or conditionally willing to participate in. It removes uncertainty, encourages transparent communication and allows emotionally intense roleplay to proceed without unnecessary interruptions or misunderstandings.

Consent should never be assumed. If a player's Consent Sheet is unclear, incomplete or does not specifically address the situation you intend to roleplay, you are expected to ask them directly before continuing. Taking a few moments to clarify expectations protects everyone involved and prevents avoidable disputes. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

"If you are unsure, ask. Assumptions are never a substitute for consent."
📋 WHAT IS A CONSENT SHEET?

A Consent Sheet is your personal roleplay boundary profile. It communicates the themes, mature content and long-term consequences you are comfortable exploring, allowing other players to prepare scenes confidently while respecting your preferences.

Reviewing another player's Consent Sheet should become routine before every roleplay that could involve permanent consequences or sensitive subject matter.

✔ Expected Practice

  • Review Consent Sheets before sensitive roleplay.
  • Ask questions whenever something is unclear.
  • Respect every listed boundary without debate.
  • Keep your own Consent Sheet accurate and current.
  • Confirm consent again if the scene changes significantly.

✖ Common Mistakes

  • Never checking another player's Consent Sheet.
  • Assuming consent because of previous roleplay.
  • Ignoring clearly stated restrictions.
  • Claiming "I didn't know" afterwards.
  • Pressuring someone to change their boundaries.
When Should You Ask?

If uncertainty exists, ask before the scene begins. Whether the roleplay involves branding, permanent injuries, torture, slavery, psychological manipulation, romance or any other sensitive topic, a brief out-of-character confirmation is always preferable to making assumptions.

Clear communication before a scene prevents misunderstandings after the scene.

® Players are encouraged to clarify conditional consent as well. If a Consent Sheet states that a topic is allowed only under certain circumstances, confirm those conditions before continuing rather than interpreting them yourself.

⚠ PLAYER RESPONSIBILITY
  • Every player is responsible for reviewing Consent Sheets.
  • Every player is responsible for maintaining their own Consent Sheet.
  • Unclear consent should always be clarified before proceeding.
  • Consent differs from player to player.
  • Respecting another player's boundaries is mandatory.
Shared Responsibility

Consent is not solely the responsibility of the player initiating a scene. Every participant shares responsibility for communicating their boundaries honestly, updating their Consent Sheet when necessary and speaking up whenever uncertainty exists.

© An outdated or incomplete Consent Sheet does not automatically grant permission for sensitive roleplay. If relevant information is missing or ambiguous, the scene should pause until clarification is obtained.

Consent is established through communication, not assumptions.

📖 EXAMPLE

A rival kingdom captures an enemy commander and intends to permanently brand them before release. Before progressing, one participant reviews the commander's Consent Sheet and notices that permanent branding requires explicit confirmation.

The players briefly communicate out of character and confirm that everyone remains comfortable with the proposed consequence. Once expectations are clear, the roleplay continues naturally without interruption.

Because the Consent Sheet was reviewed beforehand, the scene remains immersive, respectful and free from avoidable disputes.

Remember
  • Always review another player's Consent Sheet before sensitive roleplay.
  • If something is unclear, ask before proceeding.
  • Consent Sheets protect every participant.
  • Keep your own Consent Sheet accurate and up to date.
  • Communication is always better than assumption.

Chapter III — Restricted & Consent-Based Content

CHAPTER III

Restricted & Consent-Based Content

Mature Stories Require Mature Communication

Ash & Blood embraces mature storytelling, but not every mature subject is appropriate for every player. Scenes involving torture, slavery, permanent injury, psychological abuse, graphic violence, sexual themes or other sensitive content require significantly greater communication, preparation and mutual trust than ordinary roleplay.

Before initiating roleplay that may result in permanent physical, emotional or narrative consequences, it is your responsibility to verify that every participant has consented through their Consent Sheet or through direct out-of-character confirmation. Consent must always be informed, voluntary and remain active throughout the entire duration of the scene.

A player's decision to decline a particular type of roleplay must always be respected. Attempting to pressure, guilt or manipulate another player into accepting content beyond their stated boundaries is considered a serious violation of community standards. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

"Consent transforms difficult subjects into collaborative storytelling."
🕊 MATURE THEMES REQUIRE MATURE COMMUNICATION

Some of the most memorable roleplay involves loss, suffering, sacrifice and impossible choices. Those stories succeed only because every participant knowingly agrees to explore them together.

Communication before a scene is always preferable to conflict after it. When expectations are established early, players can fully immerse themselves without uncertainty or unnecessary interruptions.

✔ Requires Consent

  • Permanent injuries or maiming.
  • Branding or permanent disfigurement.
  • Forced slavery or long-term captivity.
  • Graphic torture or extreme violence.
  • Sexual roleplay.
  • Psychological abuse intended to permanently affect a character.
  • Permanent Character Death (PK).

✖ Never Acceptable

  • Ignoring another player's established boundaries.
  • Continuing after consent has been withdrawn.
  • Assuming previous consent applies forever.
  • Pressuring someone into uncomfortable scenes.
  • Attempting to bypass Consent Sheets through technicalities.
Consent Can Be Withdrawn

Consent is never permanent. A player may withdraw their consent at any point if a scene becomes uncomfortable or develops beyond what they originally agreed to.

When this occurs, the roleplay should immediately pause while the participants calmly discuss how the scene can continue in a different way or conclude respectfully.

Protecting the comfort of the players always takes priority over completing a single scene.

🌒 FADE TO BLACK

Not every sensitive scene needs to be roleplayed in graphic detail. Whenever appropriate, players are encouraged to use a Fade to Black (FTB) transition to respectfully conclude mature scenes while preserving the agreed narrative outcome.

Choosing to Fade to Black does not automatically remove or invalidate the in-character consequences that every participant previously agreed upon.

® Players may request Fade to Black even if explicit content is otherwise permitted by their Consent Sheet. Choosing a less graphic presentation should never change the agreed narrative result unless all participants decide otherwise.

Scene Escalation

Sensitive scenes often evolve naturally as roleplay progresses. A simple interrogation may become torture. A prison sentence may become permanent branding. What begins as a conversation may ultimately result in lifelong consequences.

© If a roleplay escalates into content that exceeds what was originally discussed or reasonably expected, participants should pause and obtain fresh confirmation before continuing. Consent for one consequence does not automatically extend to a more severe one.

Respecting boundaries during escalation protects both immersion and player trust.

📖 EXAMPLE

A victorious kingdom intends to permanently brand a captured commander before releasing them as a warning to its rivals. Before progressing, the players review the commander's Consent Sheet and verify that permanent branding is permitted.

Because consent has been confirmed beforehand, the branding becomes a meaningful part of the character's ongoing story and influences future roleplay without creating uncertainty or unnecessary disputes.

Had the player declined permanent branding, the captors would instead pursue another narrative consequence such as ransom, imprisonment or a temporary injury that respected the established boundaries.

Remember
  • Always verify consent before beginning sensitive roleplay.
  • Consent must remain active throughout the entire scene.
  • Players may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Fade to Black is encouraged whenever appropriate.
  • Respecting another player's boundaries is always mandatory.

Chapter IV — Permanent Consequences

CHAPTER IV

Permanent Consequences

Lasting Consequences Should Create Better Stories

Some roleplay outcomes permanently alter a character's future. Scars, lost limbs, blindness, branding, disfigurement, enslavement and Character Death (PK) become enduring parts of a character's history and should therefore never be treated as ordinary punishments or routine roleplay outcomes.

Unlike temporary setbacks, permanent consequences cannot simply be ignored or reversed. They fundamentally change how a character is perceived, the opportunities available to them and the stories they will experience moving forward. Because of their lasting nature, they require significantly greater communication, mutual understanding and explicit player consent before they may occur.

Permanent consequences exist to enrich long-term storytelling, not to remove another player's enjoyment. When handled responsibly, they become defining chapters in a character's life rather than the end of their journey. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

"A lasting consequence should change the story, not end it."
⚖ PRINCIPLES OF PERMANENT CONSEQUENCES

Every permanent consequence should create meaningful future roleplay. A scar may become a symbol of survival. A kingdom's brand may permanently affect diplomacy. The loss of a hand may force a warrior to reinvent themselves rather than simply ending their story.

These outcomes should always expand future storytelling opportunities instead of removing them whenever reasonably possible.

✔ Examples

  • Permanent scarring.
  • Branding by a kingdom or faction.
  • Loss of a limb.
  • Permanent blindness.
  • Long-term enslavement.
  • Character Death (PK).

✖ Never Allowed

  • Applying permanent consequences without consent.
  • Ignoring another player's Consent Sheet.
  • Pressuring consent during an active scene.
  • Using permanent consequences as personal revenge.
  • Treating life-changing injuries as routine punishment.
Permanent Injuries

Permanent injuries include lasting physical conditions that continue affecting a character long after the original scene concludes. These may involve missing limbs, damaged eyesight, severe burns, permanent scars or other irreversible alterations to a character's appearance or physical capabilities.

Such injuries should never occur casually. They become enduring parts of a character's identity and deserve the same level of narrative care as any other major story event.

© Permanent injuries should remain reasonably consistent during future roleplay. Characters should not temporarily ignore or selectively remember lasting conditions whenever it becomes convenient.

Branding & Disfigurement

Branding, ritual markings and permanent disfigurement often become powerful narrative symbols. Whether inflicted through justice, religion, warfare or humiliation, these marks permanently become part of a character's history and identity.

Because they cannot realistically be forgotten or removed through ordinary roleplay, they always require explicit player consent before they are applied.

® Whenever possible, players are encouraged to incorporate these permanent marks into future character development rather than treating them as cosmetic details that are quickly ignored.

Character Death (PK)

Permanent Character Death represents the most significant narrative consequence available within Ash & Blood. Unlike every other permanent consequence, PK concludes a character's story entirely and therefore should remain exceptionally rare.

PK always requires explicit player consent unless administrative approval exists under the circumstances described elsewhere within the ruleset.

Character Death should conclude an important narrative, not simply reward victory in combat. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

📖 EXAMPLE

A victorious kingdom captures the commander of a rival faction after months of political conflict. Rather than immediately executing them, the captors wish to permanently brand the prisoner before release as a warning to every neighboring realm.

Before the scene progresses, both parties review the prisoner's Consent Sheet and confirm that permanent branding is permitted. Once consent has been verified, the branding is roleplayed and becomes a permanent part of the character's future story.

Had permanent branding not been permitted, the victors would instead pursue another meaningful consequence such as ransom, imprisonment or temporary injury while respecting the player's established boundaries. :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}

Remember
  • Permanent consequences should enrich the story, not end it.
  • Explicit consent is required before applying lasting consequences.
  • Scars, branding and maiming become permanent parts of a character's history.
  • Character Death is the most serious consequence available.
  • Respect another player's decision if they decline a permanent consequence.

Chapter V — OOC & IC Separation

CHAPTER V

OOC & IC Separation

Separate The Player From The Character

Conflict between characters is one of the driving forces behind memorable roleplay. Rivalries, betrayals, political intrigue and warfare all contribute to a living world. These conflicts, however, must always remain confined to the characters involved and should never influence how players treat one another outside the roleplay.

Every participant is expected to distinguish between in-character (IC) actions and out-of-character (OOC) relationships. Your character may despise another kingdom, seek revenge against a rival or wage war against an enemy, while you as a player continue treating everyone involved with courtesy and respect.

Likewise, real-world disagreements must never influence roleplay. Personal frustration, Discord arguments or previous disputes cannot be used as justification for hostile in-character behavior. Collaborative storytelling depends upon every player separating fiction from reality. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

"Characters may become enemies. Players should remain respectful."
⚖ SEPARATING FICTION FROM REALITY

Every hostile action performed in character should have an in-character reason. Political ambition, revenge, territorial disputes, religious conflict and personal rivalries all create believable motivations. Out-of-character frustration does not.

When players consistently separate themselves from their characters, even intense rivalries become enjoyable collaborative stories rather than personal conflicts.

✔ Healthy Roleplay

  • Separate personal feelings from character actions.
  • Remain respectful after hostile IC interactions.
  • Resolve OOC disagreements through calm discussion.
  • Allow characters to disagree without damaging player relationships.
  • Request staff assistance when discussions become unproductive.

✖ Unacceptable Conduct

  • Using OOC disagreements as motivation for IC hostility.
  • Refusing reasonable roleplay because of personal dislike.
  • Harassing another player after an IC conflict.
  • Retaliating against a player for reporting a rule violation.
  • Allowing personal emotions to dictate character decisions.
OOC Disagreements

Rule disagreements, misunderstandings and interpersonal conflicts should always be addressed calmly outside the roleplay. If the discussion cannot be resolved respectfully, pause the interaction and seek staff assistance rather than allowing the disagreement to influence the ongoing story.

Continuing a roleplay while emotions are escalating often creates larger disputes than the original disagreement itself.

® Players are encouraged to temporarily step away from a scene if they believe strong emotions are preventing them from separating themselves from their character. Returning later is always preferable to escalating an avoidable conflict.

Character Motivation

Every major decision should be supported by believable in-character reasoning. Political goals, personal history, loyalty, ideology and survival all provide strong motivations that enrich roleplay without relying upon real-world emotions.

© If the only explanation for a hostile action is an out-of-character disagreement, the action should not occur. Every significant conflict should remain fully justifiable through the character's own experiences and motivations.

Maintaining this distinction protects both immersion and the health of the community.

📖 EXAMPLE

Two players disagree over the interpretation of a server rule during a Discord discussion. Although the conversation becomes frustrating, both agree to pause the discussion and open a staff ticket rather than allowing the disagreement to affect their ongoing roleplay.

The following day, their characters continue negotiating a political treaty exactly as the story requires. Neither character's behavior changes because of the disagreement that occurred outside the game.

The dispute remains an OOC matter, while the roleplay continues according to the characters' own motivations and established history. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

Remember
  • Separate player relationships from character relationships.
  • Never use OOC disagreements as IC motivation.
  • Resolve disputes respectfully or through staff mediation.
  • Every major conflict should have believable IC justification.
  • Respect between players is more important than winning an argument.

Chapter VI — When Consent Is Withdrawn

CHAPTER VI

When Consent Is Withdrawn

Respect The Player Before The Story

Consent is never permanent. Every player retains the right to withdraw their consent if a roleplay scene becomes uncomfortable, develops beyond the boundaries they originally accepted or simply reaches a point where they no longer wish to participate.

Respecting that decision is a fundamental expectation within Ash & Blood. No matter how important a roleplay scene may appear, the wellbeing of the players always takes priority over completing the narrative.

If consent is withdrawn during roleplay involving mature themes, permanent consequences or other restricted content, the scene must immediately pause. The participants should calmly discuss the situation out of character before deciding whether the scene can continue in another form or should end entirely. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

"No roleplay scene is more important than the comfort of the players participating in it."
🛑 PAUSE FIRST, DISCUSS SECOND

Once consent has been withdrawn, the roleplay should immediately stop progressing. Continuing to pressure the player, attempting to finish the scene before they leave or arguing about whether they should remain involved is never acceptable.

Instead, everyone involved should calmly step out of character, clarify what has changed and determine together whether the scene can continue in a way that respects everyone's boundaries.

✔ Appropriate Response

  • Pause the roleplay immediately.
  • Move the discussion OOC.
  • Clarify why consent was withdrawn.
  • Adjust the scene if everyone agrees.
  • Respect the player's final decision.

✖ Never Acceptable

  • Continuing after consent has been withdrawn.
  • Mocking or ridiculing another player's boundaries.
  • Attempting to guilt someone into continuing.
  • Arguing that the story is "too important" to stop.
  • Retaliating against a player afterwards.
Mutual Respect

Withdrawing consent should never expose a player to ridicule, hostility or social pressure. Likewise, everyone involved should remain calm and assume good faith while discussing how the roleplay should proceed.

Mature communication resolves nearly every situation far more effectively than frustration or confrontation.

® Players are encouraged to explain, when comfortable doing so, which aspect of the scene caused concern. While no explanation is ever required, doing so often helps the remaining participants adapt the story more effectively.

Withdrawing Consent Responsibly

Consent exists to protect players, not to erase every difficult outcome after it has already been accepted. Honest communication is expected from everyone involved throughout the entire roleplay process.

© Consent should never be withdrawn solely to avoid legitimate narrative consequences that were knowingly accepted beforehand once those consequences begin occurring. If circumstances genuinely change or the scene develops beyond what was originally agreed upon, however, players always retain the right to stop and reassess the situation.

Respect, honesty and good faith are expected from every participant.

📖 EXAMPLE

During an interrogation, the participants originally agree to psychological pressure and threats. As the scene progresses, the captors decide they also wish to permanently brand the prisoner.

The prisoner explains that they are no longer comfortable continuing with that direction. The roleplay immediately pauses while everyone discusses an alternative outcome. Instead of branding, the captors choose a lengthy imprisonment followed by ransom.

The overall story continues successfully because every participant respected the player's decision rather than attempting to force the original consequence. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

Remember
  • Consent may be withdrawn at any time.
  • Pause the scene immediately when consent is withdrawn.
  • Discuss the situation calmly out of character.
  • Never pressure someone to continue uncomfortable roleplay.
  • The wellbeing of players always comes before the story.

Chapter VII — Consent Violations & Administrative Review

CHAPTER VII

Consent Violations & Administrative Review

Protecting Players Protects The Community

Consent is one of the fundamental expectations within Ash & Blood. Every player is responsible for respecting established boundaries, communicating honestly and ensuring that mature roleplay remains collaborative from beginning to end.

When a player knowingly ignores another participant's Consent Sheet, pressures someone into unwanted roleplay or continues after consent has been withdrawn, the matter becomes an administrative issue rather than an in-character dispute. Staff review these situations to protect the integrity of the community and ensure that every player can participate in roleplay without fear of coercion or retaliation.

Administrative investigations are intended to establish the facts of an incident, not determine who "won" a disagreement. Players are expected to cooperate honestly, provide relevant evidence when requested and allow staff to review the situation objectively. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

"Consent is not optional. Respecting boundaries is everyone's responsibility."
⚖ WHAT CONSTITUTES A CONSENT VIOLATION?

A consent violation occurs whenever a player intentionally disregards another participant's established boundaries or attempts to bypass the consent system altogether. These actions undermine trust between players and damage the collaborative nature of roleplay.

Consent violations are evaluated according to the circumstances surrounding the incident, including communication before, during and after the scene.

✔ Expected Conduct

  • Respect another player's Consent Sheet.
  • Pause immediately if consent is withdrawn.
  • Communicate honestly during disputes.
  • Cooperate with staff investigations.
  • Accept administrative decisions respectfully.

✖ Consent Violations

  • Ignoring another player's established boundaries.
  • Pressuring someone into giving consent.
  • Continuing after consent has been withdrawn.
  • Knowingly bypassing Consent Sheet requirements.
  • Retaliating against a player for raising a concern.
Administrative Review

If a consent dispute cannot be resolved between the participants, staff may review chat logs, screenshots, tickets and other available evidence to determine what occurred. The purpose of this review is to establish the facts fairly while protecting every player's right to participate safely within the community.

Administrative decisions are based upon the available evidence rather than assumptions, popularity or personal opinions.

® Players are encouraged to preserve relevant screenshots or chat logs whenever a consent-related dispute occurs. Providing accurate evidence allows staff to resolve situations more quickly and fairly.

Good Faith

Every player is expected to approach consent discussions honestly and in good faith. Mistakes may occasionally occur, particularly when communication is unclear. Honest misunderstandings should be resolved through respectful discussion whenever possible.

© Deliberately misrepresenting conversations, editing evidence out of context or making knowingly false consent reports undermines the administrative process and may itself become a disciplinary matter.

Transparency and honesty protect both the players involved and the credibility of every administrative investigation.

📖 EXAMPLE

During a captivity scene, one participant states out of character that they no longer consent to permanent branding. Despite this, another player attempts to continue the roleplay as though consent had never been withdrawn.

The affected player immediately pauses the scene and opens a staff ticket with the relevant screenshots. Staff review the available evidence, confirm that consent had been withdrawn before the consequence occurred and issue an appropriate administrative decision.

The review focuses on whether server rules were followed, not on which narrative outcome would have been more interesting.

Remember
  • Respecting consent is mandatory for every player.
  • Pause immediately whenever a consent dispute arises.
  • Administrative reviews exist to establish facts fairly.
  • Provide honest communication and accurate evidence.
  • Protecting player trust protects the entire community.

END OF BOOK VII

Final Thoughts

Respect Creates Better Stories

Memorable roleplay is not created by rules alone. It is built through trust, communication and mutual respect between the people sharing the story. Every conflict, alliance, betrayal and sacrifice becomes more meaningful when every participant knows their personal boundaries will be respected.

Consent should never be viewed as an obstacle to storytelling. Instead, it provides the confidence necessary for players to explore darker themes, lasting consequences and emotionally powerful narratives without compromising the comfort or wellbeing of those behind the characters.

Whether you are participating in a political trial, a brutal battlefield defeat, a lengthy imprisonment or a character-defining permanent consequence, remember that collaborative storytelling always begins with mutual respect. The strongest communities are those where players trust one another both in and out of character.

"Great stories challenge characters, never the people behind them."
✓ KEY PRINCIPLES TO REMEMBER
  • Always respect another player's Consent Sheet.
  • Communicate before sensitive or permanent roleplay.
  • Pause immediately if consent changes or is withdrawn.
  • Separate in-character conflict from out-of-character relationships.
  • Use permanent consequences to enrich stories rather than punish players.
  • Resolve disagreements respectfully and involve staff when necessary.
  • Remember that player wellbeing always comes before the narrative.
