The Bossonian Marches, often referred to simply as Bossonia, serve as the iron buffer of the Aquilonian Empire. This frontier province is situated between the civilized Aquilonian heartland, the savage Pictish Wilderness to the west, and the brooding hills of Cimmeria to the north. While recent westward expansion has established the Westermarck as a new frontline against the Picts, the Bossonians remain Aquilonia's primary defense, a role they have fulfilled for centuries.

The nation's borders are defined by mountain ranges on all sides except for its borders with Nemedia, which is defined by the Yellow River. The land is hilly and covered with forests, and is fairly fertile.

A gloomier land never existed on earth. Cimmeria is a raw, savage, and heavily wooded country of hills and shadowed valleys. Covered by near-constant layers of fog, the dark ground absorbs endless wind and water only to release it back into the misty air. Winds blow sharp and cold, driving rain, sleet, or snow, and moan drearily among the passes and down the valleys. There is little mirth in that land, and men grow moody and strange.

Corinthia is a triangle of land south of Brythunia, west of Zamora, east of Ophir, and north of Koth. Its landscape is mostly dominated by the Karpash Mountains, which run along its south-eastern, southern, and south-western borders. A portion of the southern point of Corinthia is desert where the city-states of Kamalla and Zahmahn are located. The northern reaches of Corinthia are agricultural plains and rolling hills.
